Help:Discussions

From Western North Carolina

Discussions on the WNC wiki are different than discussions on a traditional newsgroup or forum site. This page explains the current convention for discussions on the WNC wiki.

[edit] Posting a message

If the message you want to post is on a different topic, edit the last section on the page and, on a single line by itself add:

== Topic Name ==

Then directly beneath this enter your message and press save. Do not delete the content of the section you are adding your section onto.

[edit] Posting a reply

To post a reply to an existing topic, edit the section you want to reply to and at the end of the section enter your reply, indented one more level than the previous reply.

To indent your reply, use a colon (:) at the beginning of the line. For example, a typically discussion might look like:

== How do I post messages? ==

Help. I don't know how to post a message. -- Bob

:You edit the section and then add your text at the end. -- John

::Thanks, I understand now. -- Bob

[edit] Creating a new discussion

To create a new discussion section, edit the Discussions section and add the following text as a separate line:

* [[{discussion-name}]]

Where {discussion-name} is the name of the discussion you want to create. Then, save the section, and click on the link to create the first entry in the discussion.
